What is certified organic?

If something is certified organic, it means that it has been produced with the avoidance of synthetic chemical inputs like fertilizers, pesticides, antibiotics, or food additives. It has been produced on land that has been free from synthetic chemicals for at least 3 years.
Producers of certified organic product must keep detailed production and sales records. All certified organic product must be kept in strict physical separation from non certified products.  Certified organic producers must undergo annual on-site inspections to ensure standards are being followed.
